Exclusive Designer Clothing for Gelatieri

June 14

On June 14, 2024, the city of Vienna played host to an event titled “Exclusive Designer Clothing for Gelatieri,” organized by the European Training and Research Institute (ETRI). This unique event, held at the Urban Diversity Education Campus PH Wien, was a celebration of creativity, innovation, and the fusion of fashion with the practical demands of the gelato-making profession.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an exclusive collection of designer clothing, crafted specifically for gelatieri by five talented students from the Fashion and Design study program at the Urban Diversity Education Campus of PH Wien, I.

This initiative was part of the EU co-financed project, GELATOn the ROAD, which aims to enhance urban diversity through innovative educational programs.

In preparing for this event, the students engaged in thorough research to understand the unique clothing needs of gelatieri. They conducted interviews with seven professionals from renowned gelaterias, including Dolce Vita, Eissalon am Schwedenplatz with Manifattura del Gelato, Eissalon Paolo Bortolotti, Gelateria Alberti, and Gelateria Gamba. These interviews provided invaluable insights into the practical requirements and preferences of gelato makers, which were meticulously incorporated into the designs.

The resulting collection featured five distinctive designer pieces that seamlessly blend style with functionality. These outfits are not only aesthetically pleasing but also cater to the rigorous demands of the gelato craft. Each piece was tailored to ensure comfort, ease of movement, and durability, making them ideal for use in a busy gelateria environment.

The new designer pieces were unveiled during the Urban Diversity Education Campus PH Wien summer festival, where they were showcased in a dynamic presentation that highlighted both their stylish appeal and practical applications. The event demonstrated how fashion can meet the high standards required in specialized professional fields while making a bold fashion statement.

This successful collaboration between the students, ETRI, and the gelatieri underscored the importance of combining educational initiatives with real-world applications. It also highlighted the potential of young designers to innovate within niche markets, creating solutions that are both practical and stylish.

The event was a resounding success, achieving the goals set out by the GELATOn the ROAD project. It exemplified how educational programs can drive innovation and contribute to urban diversity. Congratulations are due to all participants, especially the dedicated students and their mentors, for their impressive achievements and contributions to the field of fashion design tailored for gelatieri.

The “Exclusive Designer Clothing for Gelatieri” event has set a new benchmark for future collaborations between educational institutions, industry professionals, and research organizations, demonstrating the power of creativity and practical design in enhancing professional attire.
