Exclusive GELATO compositions for the Chinese Moon Festival Reception

On the occasion of the Chinese Moon Festival reception on September 10, 2024, President Ernst Woller and
the board of the Organization for the Support of Austrian-Chinese Relations (OECB) invite guests to the
magnificent hall of the House of Strauss, Casino Zögernitz, where the unforgettable waltzes composed and
personally conducted by Johann Strauss once resounded.
As part of the GELATOn the ROAD project, Gelateria Paolo Bortolotti and ETRI will present innovative gelato
compositions by renowned gelatiere Domenico Grandi. These artfully composed flavors combine the tradition
of Viennese culture with contemporary elegance and will be served exclusively to guests at the Chinese Moon
Festival.
Inspired by the music of Johann Strauss the Younger, “The Waltz King”, these gelato compositions symbolize
the connection between the high art of gelato craftsmanship and the cultural significance of Vienna. Each of
the five gelato compositions pays homage to the rich musical tradition and finesse of Viennese cuisine:
– Kaiser Walzer (Waltz): The finest vanilla, refined with delicate gold leaves and a hint of citrus caviar –
a royal creation.
– Wiener Bonbons (Waltz): Creamy milk gelato, topped with chocolate sprinkles and garnished with pink
and blue meringue pieces – a sweet and playful masterpiece.
– Wo die Zitronen blühen (Waltz): Refreshing lemon gelato, enhanced with candied bergamot peel,
reflecting the essence of the Mediterranean.
– Wein, Weib und Gesang (Waltz): Muscat grape gelato, capturing the exquisite taste of wine in a
sensual way.
– Schanis’ Locke*: Intense dark chocolate gelato, refined with candied chinotto strips – an elegant and
dark temptation.
Domenico Grandi’s unique gelato compositions promise a culinary experience that will enchant the senses and
offer guests of the Chinese Moon Festival an unforgettable evening filled with cultural and gastronomic
