GELATOn the ROAD at MIG 2023
Let’s delve deeper into the delightful world of gelato, where tradition, innovation, and sustainability converge. As GELATOn the ROAD and MIG intersect, gelato enthusiasts can anticipate a captivating blend of flavors and experiences.
MIG, the venerable International Exhibition of Gelato, has a storied history dating back to December 1959. Each year, as winter descends, Longarone—the gelato capital—becomes a vibrant hub, drawing gelato makers from across the globe. This gathering celebrates the artistry, craftsmanship, and sheer joy embedded in every scoop of gelato. Imagine the bustling fairgrounds, where semi-finished products, machinery, equipment, and services for artisan gelato parlors take center stage. It’s a place where gelato dreams come to life, and where the cold dessert weaves its magic.
GELATon the ROAD in Longarone and tasting of VegaNuss, the taste of the year 2024 in Germany by Uniteis
At the Mostra del Gelato in Longarone, the GELATOn the ROAD Project was presented. A delegation of project partners (from Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, Germany and Italy) was present at the fair and participated in the presentation conference. Other partners were connected online. The project was illustrated by its initiator, Dr. Gian Angelo Bellati, former President of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti Srl, who arrived in Longarone with the team of the Venetian Cluster Foundation, curator of the project. Moderation was provided by Maria Valentina Vanceo, coordinator for the lead partner, which is Longarone Fiere Dolomiti Srl. Dr. Annalisa Carnio, Secretary General of Uniteis, gave a presentation on the history and activities of Uniteis and the role that Uniteis has taken within the Project.
At the end of the talk, a tasting of the “Gusto dell’anno” of 2024 Uniteis for Germany: VegaNuss was offered to the guests present at the conference.
But wait, there’s more! GELATOn the ROAD, a groundbreaking initiative, embarks on a European journey dedicated to this beloved frozen treat. Picture a winding path that winds through Georgia, Spain, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Poland, Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Along this route, gelato aficionados explore the knowledge, culture, and museums of Gelato. It’s a pilgrimage for the taste buds, a celebration of craftsmanship, and an ode to quality and food safety.
Artisanal Gelato, lovingly crafted using traditional methods, emerges as the epitome of excellence. As not only does it tantalize our palates, but it also champions sustainability. Health-conscious and environmentally aware, artisanal gelato minimizes plastic usage and embraces a Green Economy model. The “km0” initiative, which highlights agri-food products from individual Member States, finds a sweet ally in this frozen delight. Consumers respond enthusiastically, recognizing the value of locally sourced ingredients.
